The first hangers at Sumner County Regional Airport were built in the mid 1960s.

The current airport terminal was built in 1985.

The F4 aircraft located next to Airport Road was obtained by the local VFW and moved to Gallatin from Tucson, Arizona, in 1996.  The VFW carefully restored the plane, and they regularly see that it is kept clean and painted.
